In 1990 Rainer and Susanne Scheithauer started implementing their idea of hotel rooms with specific themes, establishing the former „Reichshof“ as an innovative hotel for the individual guest. This year also marked the starting point for the integration of contemporary art into the traditional family-owned hotel.

REICHSHOF goes KUNSThof

In november 2002 „Hotel Reichshof“ started the project „KUNSThof“ and organized an exhibition together with artists Christoph Mayer, Peter Pilz and Christian Ruschitzka.

„My idea was to frame the hotel in three different ways, through paintings and photography, through different objects in available spaces, but also through the composition of the rooms, as with the “LEUCHTE” by Peter Pilz.” 

Art represents an expression of our culture and philosophy as a business. KUNSThof invites its guests, partners and staff to participate in an interaction with contemporary art, offering a unique concept in the hotel sector.

KUNSThof today

Through vernissages with young Austrian artists and the cooperation with different galleries in Vienna and Berlin our art collection is growing continuously. Young artist are given a unique opportunity to present their art while at the same time contributing to the appeal of the KUNSThof.

Moving beyond the act of merely “hanging art on the wall”, the artist Michael Ornauer has created a colour concept for the hotelrooms and lounges.
