Traditional Viennese dishes have been greatly influenced by earlier immigration from the different parts of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Due to the city’s proximity to the borders to Hungary and the earlier Bohemia, the Viennese cuisine includes several dishes originating in these regions. The Gulasch with its Viennese varieties – Wienergulasch, Fiakergulasch and Zigeunergulasch – has its origins in Hungary. The much-loved Viennese dumplings but also pastries such as Strudel , Golatschen and Viennese Crepes (Palatschinken), are the fruit of bohemian culinary influences. Other popular dishes include the famous Wiener Schnitzel and the Tafelspitz
