The cuisine of Vienna’s second district, Leopoldstadt, has been influenced by European migration to the city ever since the days of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Today it is home to restaurants from all over the world.
Here are some of our recommendations :
Upscale Viennese cuisine is offered by the Stadtgasthaus Eisvogel, located at the Ferris Wheel Square, as well as Restaurant Skopik & Lohn by the Augartenpark. For those favouring a good, hearty, homecooked meal the Gasthaus am Nordpol 3 is a fine choice. The garden of the Schweizerhaus inside the Prater is a great place to enjoy a cool beer and the traditional “stelzen”(ham hocks) during warm summer months. The Fischrestaurant Kaj serves delicious Croatian seafood specialties just around the corner from the KUNSThof. Also within walking distance you will find “Zum Inder” with a fine selection of Indian dishes, and Taco Lopez, which in addition to its tasty Mexican food also offers a variety of exclusive Tequilla. Another international alternative worthy of mention is the Lebanese restaurant Le Cedre, just opposite the Messe Wien congress center.
