Modern art serves as inspiration in KUNSThof, a small private hotel. Aiming to combine the comfort of a family hotel with the pleasure of an art gallery, KUNSThof hosts exhibitions of local and international artist. These exhibitions represent a unique opportunity for artist to present their work before an international audience. Thus, living space and art space become one, and the hotel more than just another place to spend the night. This is what distinguishes the KUNSThof from other hotels.    

In order to meet to the individual wishes of our guest we offer rooms in 5 different categories, for up to 4 persons. You can relax in our lounge and help yourself to a drink at our Honesty Bar, which is open at all hours. The hotel is a non-smoking space, but you may smoke in one of our two smoking lounges, one of which has an open fire. For our business guests and partners we offer a conference room, and our green leafy courtyard is a peaceful oasis during the hot summer months in Vienna.

KUNSThof is located in a small side street only 200 meters from Praterstern and the famous Viennese ferris wheel. Stephansplatz and the city centre are only 3 minutes away with the subway line from Praterstern. Two large parks, the Augarten and the Praterpark, are within walking distance. The Hunderwasser House and the Kunsthaus Wien are also within close proximity of the hotel.

History

KUNSThof was build in late classical style in 1887 and is located in Leopoldstadt, Vienna’s 2. District. Leopoldstadt is framed by the Danube on one side and the Danube channel on the other, and borders the city center. The Praterpark covers a large part of the district. This former hunting ground for the emperor is located only 400 meters from the KUNSThof.

The hotel, formerly known as “Reichshof”, has been in the Scheithauer family since 1897. Rainer Scheithauer, born 1952, has been the hotel manager since 1982. As of 1990 Rainer Scheithauer represents the fourth generation of his family to own and manage the former “Hotel Reichshof”
