The River Danube
The Danube and the Danube island, located only 1,5km from the KUNSThof, are without a doubt among the most attractive outdoor recreational areas any city has to offer. The Viennese locals gather here during the summer months to do sports, swim, have a barbeque or just relax in the sun. There are several recreational facilities available, such as beachvolleyball- and football fields as well as boat rentals.
Every year in summer, the Danube island is host to the three day long “Donauinselfest” – the Danube island party. This open-air music festival is sponsored by the city of Vienna, and therefore free of charge.
